Sadly, Kira Muratova's films solely reflect the film d'auteur in Ukrainian cinema. Kill Shot (КІЛЛХАУC, 2026) represents the complete opposite: a streamlined, slightly propagandistic action thriller based on true events concerning the still-ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia. The film covers a story of a journalist who was abducted by the Russians and the efforts of an elite Ukrainian drone unit attempting to free her.

The original score for Killhouse was written by Vladlen Pupkov, a Ukrainian composer who has written many scores in the past ten years. Prior to its release, he declared that the music for the, already building on a Hollywood template, Ukrainian film needed to carry a similar approach in the music. That's usually a bad sign, especially for a film like this.

Yes, it offers a cliché unattributed musical template, full of atmospheric electronics and a semi-hybrid, percussion driven tension and more. Yet, it is wholeheartedly serviceable in the film.

The composer released two cues from the orginal score and his music to the trailer digitally.
