Hozy

" the effort is relaxing, sometimes even enchanting, dreamlike, and very upbeat, but also wearisome and overly uncomplicated, sometimes even offering low-level hollowness in a wider  musical perspective, whereas in the context of the game, it is outstanding "

The 2026 video game Hozy, developed by Russian developer Come On Studio, ties in with the wild variety of simulator video games, especially those drawn toward everyday life developments. The object of the game is to restore and redecorate abandoned property according to your liking. This slice-of-life simulator approach often becomes a relaxing and rewarding experience, of which this game is no exception.

The music for the game was composed by Belgium-born Yann Van Der Cruyssen (aka Morusqu, Nurykabe and Kanar), who previously wrote music for a variety of things, including the original score to video games such as Dôkutsu Monogatari and Stray.

Given the approach of the game, an interactive, soothing experience of transforming a house into something completely new needs music to accompany it, which is often more atmospheric, unobtrusive, or maybe even generic elevator lounge music, but valuable in its aid. In Hozy, it changes as you gradually improve. Van Der Cruyssen composed, mastered, produced, and programmed the music, using a wide array of live instruments and electronics. Considering the muzak and everyday life approach, it is sometimes simplified, childish, and amateurish in many ways, while offering a very pleasant and relaxing sense throughout, which comes out best in several moments in which the timbre of mostly carefree electronic music, both rhythmic and atmospheric, supports this.

As a separate musical listening experience, the effort is relaxing, sometimes even enchanting, dreamlike, and very upbeat, but also wearisome and overly uncomplicated, sometimes even offering low-level hollowness in a wider  musical perspective, whereas in the context of the game, it is outstanding.
