I love Jarre when he's in his big, romantic, expansive mode. Is it at all like that? -

I'm sorry to report that this is more in the way of experimental type music. I like what he did but the size is more chamber.listen to more classical music! -

You all owe it to yourselves to go to the SAE site and listen to the clips and more than once. It is a side of Jarre you'll want to have especially if his regular soundtracks take up space on your shelves.

Jarre looks very frail!? I hope he's okay? I was a little shocked to see him in a wheelchair, was there any mention of this in the commentary? I don't speak German. On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -
- CommentTimeFeb 14th 2009
No, he only says that he's currently not in good shape. -
- CommentTimeFeb 14th 2009
Yeah, he looks quite frail. Strange, because he seemed to be in tip top shape just a year ago or so, in fact very young for his age. So he's apparently been struck with something quite recently.I am extremely serious. -

Wow, he looks much older than when I saw his last time in Ghent.Kazoo -

Someone is saying over at FSM Jarre has passed away. :-(The views and opinions of Ford A. Thaxton are his own and do not necessarily reflect the ones of ANYONE else. -

Maurice Jarre passes away at age 84:

Another legend passes.
To be honest, I was a bit worried about this when I saw him get an award in a recent show. He was frail and stuck in a wheelchair. But I thought - or hoped - it was just a temporary thing. Especially because he looked so young and vibrant LAST YEAR, at least 10-15 years younger than his actual age. So this must have been a short, but serious illness.
In any case, thank you so much for all the great music you've given us, classics that will stand the test of time, eternally ingrained in our popular culture. Also thank you for putting Jean Michel Jarre into this world, one of my absolute favourite musicians. My thoughts go out to him in this hour, and the rest of his family.
Adieu, maestro.I am extremely serious. -

One of the greats. He wrote my all-time favourite film score, Lawrence of Arabia. A great tunesmith, and one of film music's great romantics. He didn't sound like anyone else, and nobody else sounded like him. Rest in peace. -

Would have been nice if he could have lived jsut long enough to hear Stromgber & Morgan's re-recording of "Lawrence of Arabia".The views and opinions of Ford A. Thaxton are his own and do not necessarily reflect the ones of ANYONE else. -

Sad indeed, but he had a life full of opportunities, and lived to a ripe old age. You fought a good fight, Mr Jarre.A butterfly thinks therefore I am -

I'm extremely sad to hear this, Jarre is a true original and some of his scores are amongst my all time favourites.

Never much got into Jarre, but Doctor Zhivago and Paris Brûle-t-il? are among my favourite scores ever.
Merci bien, monsieur Jarre.'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn
