Hehe, not really my friend.I found lady simply irritating, the plot was ridiculous and the Shyamalan's cameo and acting was pain-inducingLove Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

Fair enough... Lady I've watched two times now and it has moments of true film magic. The Happening I've watched one time, and one time too many. It's unintenionally laughable for the most part."considering I've seen an enormous debate here about The Amazing Spider-Man and the ones who love it, and the ones who hate it, I feel myself obliged to say: TASTE DIFFERS, DEAL WITH IT" - Thomas G. -

Only the opening and closing music from the lady in the water, namely the GREAT EATLON cue in particular are moments of pure film magic to me. The wholy with the moral talking of the neighbors and the lady chick in the shower towards the end made me want to punch the tv!Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

So, should I change the name of my Nanny McPhee soundtrack, since I bought the iTunes release before they decided to rename it?I love you all. Never change. Well, unless you want to! -

To me, what you refer to as unintentionally laughable is actually why its so ingenious. The film works so differently depending on how you choose to approach it, that it's practically as close as you can get to having multiple films in one. Practically every scene works on multiple levels, and it's completely up to the viewer which level you watch it on. It can be a total comedy, or it can be very serious in an allegorical sort of way. So I wouldn't say the laughability is unintentional, I'd say it's deliberate. Designed to appeal to a broader audience, which is partly why it did so well at the box office despite scathing reviews AND an R-rating limitation. I think after Lady, which was brilliant but also extremely good at offending multiple demographics simultaneously, Night realized he had to expand his target audience, and managed to do so without abandoning the core elements of his style and personality as a film-maker.I love you all. Never change. Well, unless you want to! -

Is there any news on a soundtrack release for Salt? The film opens end July. -

I just came back from seeing the film. The score is, as with all the other Shyamalan-Howard projects, brilliant in context. What I guessed in the other thread about the main theme is indeed correct...those four notes play right across the main title, and carry through many major moments of the film, including the climax. I think Howard has been brainwashed by Christopher Nolan and thinks that films about heros don't deserve full-bodied main themes unless the hero has earned them ...and this was definitely a journey/becoming-the-hero type film.
The choir is not too different from the way it sounds on the album. I'm not as upset about its elimination after hearing the original version. In fact, I might not have even noticed the difference if I hadn't known about it ahead of time.I love you all. Never change. Well, unless you want to! -

I like how hou put that.
Characters having to earn the music that accompanies their one-screen adventures... Makes sense in these times."considering I've seen an enormous debate here about The Amazing Spider-Man and the ones who love it, and the ones who hate it, I feel myself obliged to say: TASTE DIFFERS, DEAL WITH IT" - Thomas G. -

I think it's the closest thing to a perfect film that I've ever seen, but I am probably the only person in the world, above the age of 8, who will say that. It's specifically targeted at young children and both the writing and the underlying themes are painted in very broad strokes. I think the reason critics are hating the writing is a result of Shyamalan writing the script to be as easily translatable as possible, in order to be as universal as possible. I think it will be a huge success internationally, not so much in the states and europe. I don't think Shyamalan cares in the slightest what the critics think of him, he proved that in Lady in the Water. And as long as his films continue to turn a profit, he will keep getting to do whatever he wants. I think this one definitely will, despite initial appearances.I love you all. Never change. Well, unless you want to! -

I wonder how long that will happen though. His last film to make any money was The Village (Lady in the Water grossed $45m, The Happening grossed $65m). I can't see him being given much of a budget again, if Airbender doesn't rake the money in (which doesn't seem that likely based on the reviews, though there will no doubt be an element of people wanting to see if it's really as bad as is made out). -

Imagine if that were true in 1978 when Williams scored Superman. I guess we would have received a main title sequence with one sustained note of drone. LAME!

That kind of reasoning only applies to themes and characters audiences are already familiar with. It worked in Casino Royale because we knew it was a genesis story; we knew the character and his theme.
Try that shit with a new character and a new theme for a completely new movie, and it falls apart. -

Why does everything have to be so serious these days? Batman is a man who goes around seeking justice while dressed as a fucking bat. Playing a memorable tune on the soundtrack while he's doing it is NOT going to be the silliest thing on show. -

Then why is The Dark Knight one of the highest grossing films of all time?
Generally when non-serious subjects are treated more seriously than they deserve, the result is a laughably pretension film, and those kinds of films do not become hits in this day and age.I love you all. Never change. Well, unless you want to! -

All I'm saying is that it's ridiculous to say that you can't have a melodic theme in The Dark Knight because it would make it seem silly. If the fact that a guy is fighting crime while dressed as a bat doesn't make it seem silly then having a theme that people might remember afterwards is not going to.
