It's not hard to imagine the porn version of this film: Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang. -

Since Emma Thompson is behind the whole thing (and left the Potter franchise for), my guess is that she invented the title, unless it´s one of the names of the original books, but I don´t care enough to look that one up. What I do care for, though, is JNH's music, so despite the so-so quality of part 1, which I was made to watch by my daughter, I guess I´m going to see part 2 as well somewhere down the road. -

My daughter loved Nanny McPhee and I have to admit that I, too, think it's a damn good children film.
Patrick Doyle's score is one of his finest. I'm looking forward to JNH's music, even though judged by the first score I would have preferred if Doyle had been asked to write the sequel score as well. -

First of all Nanny McPhee looks like utter crap (especially if you have seen the trailer), but is utterly mesmerizing. Even my brother said it was nothing like the trailer promised, and he enjoyed it all the more because of that. Doyle's score which is truly mesmerizing is awesome during the film. It really enhances this movie tenfold, I'm gonna buy this one on Blu-ray the moment it is released
As for the second, even though I don't know if this needs a sequel, I'm very exited to hear James Newton Howard is attached to it, but sad to hear Doyle couldn't return for this one.waaaaaahhhhhhhh!!! Where's my nut? arrrghhhhhhh -

It is without any doubt a fine movie for children, with great performances, nice music, and beautiful to look at. It´s just very predictable, so watching it shortly after the splendid Stardust and the unbelievably great Bridge to Terabithia didn´t help to raise any eyebrows. -

What´s not to like about it? Certainly the performances are stellar, and don´t get me started on the story. That trailer campaign was pure genius.
But I absolutely agree on the avoidance of spoilers.
And I honestly advise anyone who hasn´t seen this jewel to do so. Beside its obvious lessons (not mentioned here) I´ve rarely seen anything that´s captured the spirit of imagination as well as this movie. -

The sequel looks really, really bad. The first one was decent -- and that was elevated by Emma Thompson's performance and Doyle's music.http://unsungfilmscores.blogspot.com/ -- My film/TV/game score review blog -

Howard takes over ‘Nanny McPhee’ sequel
James Newton Howard is doing the score for the second Nanny McPhee film, replacing Thomas Newman who was originally hired to compose the music for the sequel. Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang premieres on March 25 and features, again, Emma Thompson as the title character, and also Ralph Fiennes, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Rhys Ifans and Maggie Smith.

02/03/10 We've just returned from London where we recorded the score to NANNY McPHEE & THE BIG BANG with Emma Thompson and Maggie Gyllenhaal. Next up are M. Night Shyamalan's THE LAST AIRBENDER and Philip Noyce's SALT (Angelina Jolie). -

I quite liked it, especially because it's not The Chronicles of Narnia at all, considering the trailer was making sure it was like that all the way through
Much more dramatic and less fantasy than expected, but by that all the betterwaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!! Where's my nut? arrrghhhhhhh -

NANNY McPHEE & THE BIG BANG
Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
Music Composed by James Newton Howard
Emma Thompson
In Nanny McPhee & The Big Bang, Oscar®-winning actress and screenwriter Emma Thompson returns to the role of the magical nanny who appears when she’s needed the most and wanted the least in the next chapter of the hilarious and heartwarming fable that has enchanted children around the world.
In the latest installment, Nanny McPhee appears at the door of a harried young mother, Mrs. Isabel Green (Maggie Gyllenhaal), who is trying to run the family farm while her husband is away at war. But once she’s arrived, Nanny McPhee discovers that Mrs. Green’s children are fighting a war of their own against two spoiled city cousins who have just moved in and refuse to leave.
Relying on everything from a flying motorcycle and a statue that comes to life to a tree-climbing piglet and a baby elephant who turns up in the oddest places, Nanny McPhee uses her magic to teach her mischievous charges five new lessons.
James Newton Howard, who gave flight to Peter Pan, provides another magical score for choir and orchestra.
Nanny McPhee & The Big Bang begins its European rollout opening in Britain on March 26 and will come to America this August.
