NP: The Cooler - Mark Isham
After playing Raiders for my boy as part of our Saturday morning ritual, I thought I'd throw on some smooth jazz while I wait for a video I'm editing to compressed down... which it taking FOREVER!!!
Anyway, this is a wonderful album with a perfect mix of songs and score.

I love this score. The director (despite what he says in the liner notes) actually wanted John Barry to score it, in the vein of Playing by Heart, but this is a rare case where I'm pleased Barry didn't do it. -

Agreed.
Disagree.
In fact it sounds more like Prokoviev.
Terrific Main theme, though.
NP:Emperor's new groove (Debney)
A Second division Powell. Quite Charming.
"perfect world" song, with a wild (When he is not wild?) Tom Jones is the best from this soundtrack! -

NP: HORTON HEARS A WHO - John Powell
There are moments here, for instance during the extremely inspired Horton Suite, where we hear John Powell at his best; here's a man who certainly knows how to score his animation. It's not all inspiration and fun, though, and in between the fun-fun-fun moments, Powell slides into conventional scoring, too. There are too many of these moments, at which Horton Hears a Who gets into too familair territory, to end up as the highlight in his career that Robots was, but the freshness and overall sense of fun make it a darn entertaining listening experience nonetheless. -

Agree with the first 2 statements. Not so much with the last 2....
Amazing score? if the themes were more originals....
Amazing composer? Well, He is a very limited composer with an orchestrator who obviously does the half of Arnold's job.
Cool guy with 3 or 4 masterpieces in his pocket.

Well I sure like it anyway, (and Arnold's work on ID4 is stunning )
NP: Superman Returns - John Ottman
I'm still dissappointed they didn't include the complete score with the Blue Box This is a truly refreshing score by Ottman! -

It's grand/sweeping/action/symphonic.
NP: Hidalgo - James Newton Howard
One of my favourite JNH efforts, it plays very nicely beside Wyatt Earp. The middle eastern influences are beautifully subtle and evocative, the action bright and frantic. Top stuff.

Unstoppably, flowingly melodic with sweeping thematic statements, fully orchestral with emphasis on the strings, heroic, passionate and at parts - melancholic.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

NP: Lair - John Debney
Debney's "Darkness Theme" is playing at the moment and every time I hear this track I keep thinking of Beltrami's Hellboy. Maybe this is why it's my favourite Debney score by far.The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

This whole CD is a challenging listen. I usually start with "March To Eternity" and by the time I've listened to this 10 minute cue I'm ready for something else! The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

NP:Shadows of the Empire (Mcneely)
Mmmmm...Good, but not very good.
the first 5 tracks are unfocused, pure fireworks, but unfocused ...the final 4 tracks are quite impressives, thought
Xisor's theme is very, very good.
(Herrman's influence is obvious in some places) -

Gods & Generals | John Frizzell (& Randy Edelman)
I haven't listened to this since the days of my big break up. Wow. It's weird to listen to it now, all kinds of memories are flooding back! (Surprisingly not in a bad way, I love this score!) -

NP: Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire - Patrick Doyle
One of my favourite Doyle scores. Tracks like "The Story Continues", "The Dark Mark", "Golden Egg" and "Voldemort" are gems! -

The powell track steals the show by far.....
Zimmer again goes to his confort Zone, and In his over dramatic approach.
