Home Alone John Williams
A passable score, but by no means great. A lot of songs on it, some of which are ok.
However it seems that my MP3 player loves it as I am sure on a random shuffle it comes up a lot more than other scores do!If in doubt, let the wookie win -

The Terminal John Williams
An even more passable score, fine to listen to but it hardly sticks in the memory. The same can be said about the film as a whole vaguely dissapointing, not because its bad, its just not that good either. If in doubt, let the wookie win -

Wonderful christmas score which takes Johnny back to his 1960's comedy roots. The songs are perfectly placed throughout the film and it's an album that I play the most in the house during Chrstmas time... that and the equally impressive Home Alone 2. There's some GREAT writing in both of those scores.

I'm shocked that people can just pass this one over. It's thematic delight. From the playful and highly original main theme to the simply gorgeous Jazz Autographs to the love theme. This is another delightful score.... and it seems to be a highly underrated one. Unfortunately, the Zimmer rip off cue is shameless. Anyway, I don't play it enough but when I do I'm all smiles.

I really like the love them, but the rest of the score seems to be the main theme repeated over and over... -

I like it, just not that much, as in it wouldn't be on my top 20 scores. I'll happily sit through a listening, but I won't remember the theme for more than 5 minutes, and wouldn't have it on repeat.
If that makes me stone hearted, then so be it (although that would explain a LOT)

NP : CATCH ME IF YOU CAN - John Williams
This is yet another of williams 2000's scores that for me just didn't quite do it. An improvement on some of his drossy 90's scores (stepmom and sabrina ) but not quite at full flow, however once he got to 2005...voila!
On that note:
NP: Minority Report John Williams
Havn't heard this in a while, although I recall being favorable to it, yet I can't recall the theme (If there is one)If in doubt, let the wookie win -

I can hum the theme right now, and (unforgivably) I haven't given this one a listen for quite a while. As for Minority Report; 'Sean's Theme'. Wonderful piece. -

Not much of a fan of The Terminal myself. It's OK as far as it goes, but it doesn't really go very far does it? -

NP The Essential Bernard Herrmann Film Music Collection - Bernard Herrmann
Just checking to see if it as bad as I remembered and well... no, it's not. Surprisingly, this albums contains some well recorded and well performed cue and On Dangerous Ground sounds REALLY good! A little tiny for my liking but pretty solid (the finale cue is a winner!) and it's not as ear bleeding as I previously thought. So, I take back my comments from earlier.

Sure it does. There's some great thematic developement in the score from the love theme to the jazz autographs theme. And it all comes together in a great finale cue. I think it's a wonderful score. Is it a John Williams masterpiece... hell no... but I doubt you will be a more classy romantic comedy score from any other film composer working today. Williams goes above and beyond...

NP: Spider-man 3 - Christopher Young
I've listened to Erik's samples, as well as those on Dom's sites, and it's a damn shame this hasn't got an official release. I've just listened to the new love theme (a beautiful violin solo leading the rest of the orchestra), and I have to say I fell in love with it. I really don't see why Sony chucked it out, when it sounds like a cousin to Elfman's love theme. The verdict is still out on the villains' themes, but I really enjoyed it.
Hell, even an iTunes exclusive release would be preferable to no release at all.http://unsungfilmscores.blogspot.com/ -- My film/TV/game score review blog -

NP: FOOL'S GOLD - George Fenton
Even though there are references to some MV-works, I'd say it's just too easy to classify this on the Media Ventures pile right away. Sure, it's all a bit more catchy 'n easy listenin' then we're used of Fenton, with a more modern feel to it, but there's his signature style in it for sure with plenty of stull you'll never hear from MV, mixed with a bit of Arnold (Man Overboard) and Powell. Hell, I'm enjoying it, and that's what matters. -

NP:M:I 2 (M:I band)
Im re-listening this score after many, many years without listening it.
"hijack" and "injection" containsa really, really cool sound.I really loved it in his moment, and Im still loving it. Sadly Zimmer didn't use this guitar effect anymore... (what about using it in Batman Begins instead his sampled string progression?).
Luckly, Jablonsky has take (toke?) this sound for his projects.
M:I as heard in "M:I theme" is annoying, but as heard in "The Bait" is quite good.
"The Heist" could be from a porn movie....
I hope the Carmina Burana with Ambrose theme is by Zimmer, a good one. -

NP:Mission Impossible (Elfman)
Many people thinks it's boring, I think it's one of Elfman best efforts. And it fits very , very well in the movie.
Full of addictive rymths and motifs. Specially track 3 and 4.
it's very close to Giacchino approach.
Far, faaaaaaaaaar better than Silvestri's rejected score. -

A masterpiece.
A fantasy score with some apocalyptic feeling, a Conan-like.
Some Ghostbusters moments too...
