I have to say, I felt a little dirty googling a random UK postal code just to listen...but as the Star Wars theme just came on, I no longer feel any shame :DThose who have a why to live for can overcome almost any how. -Nietzsche -

I thoroughly enjoyed the John Williams show this evening. Williams is the sort of person who I could sit and listen to for hours reminisce about the "old days" and pouring over his composing technique.
Some nice tracks played too. Nothing too off-the-wall - this is Classic FM after all - but it was a good set of examples of his mastery of film scoring. The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

If you click on the above link, then click on the button "Listen" to the right of the Classic FM logo and enter "John Williams" into the "search player" box then the show should appear near the top of the list. Whether it can be listened to outside the UK is another matter...The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

That's great Allison! I was hoping that they would use the same system that they seemed to use to listen to the programme "live" earlier. The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

Listening to the snippets from the John Williams scores featured last night highlighted to me that there isn't enough time in the day to revisit even the top-tier scores and give them the attention they deserve, let alone listen to anything else. The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

Oh dear. I had hoped that the involvement of Tony Kushner in the script might push this into a different feel. But like WAR HORSE, I take one look at this trailer and come away never wanting to watch the film. (I didn't even say that about NINE, the last Daniel Day Lewis event movie!) Williams gilds it with all the worthiness he can muster -- why do this pair (Spielberg/Williams) so often return to that Copland sound? Bring on the 60th Oscar nomination (or whatever he's up to) and lets get this over with.

In the first moments of the trailer, I thought it was temped with Silvestri's Cast Away, which I thought odd, since the score had already been recorded. Anyhow, the trailer does have the War Horse feel, which I haven't seen yet, but as always with Spielberg, I have faith he pulls it off. Even though this seems his most Americana picture of all (I believe, after War Horse, I can't say 'his most sentimental' anymore?). -

I think so, it's got that 'this is history Hollywood style' look to it that I hated in Amistad. On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

I like WAR HORSE, film and score. The film was light on substance - the horse is the main character, so how deep can you go? But it's just a masterful crafted film from a masterful director. I love Spielberg, so take that into account, but it's a beautiful film. And I thought the scenes of the horse in no-man's-land were excellent.
