Anyone following the Euros? Seen all matches, except a few in the beginning.

Belgium is playing tonight, which should be interesting for this board's many Belgian members. Their last match was disastrous, this one is better (but they're still struggling to break through that Romanian defense; only 1-0 so far).
    I am extremely serious.
  1. I haven't really been following it. Being Scottish, following the national team over the years has been a rough ride. And any interest in international football has withered away over the years.

And the poor result in the opening match against Germany just reinforced that pain. Our game against Hungary tonight is one of the most important games in Scotland's football history and I hope that they manage to succeed were all previous teams have failed.

Though I am enjoying the media attention that Gareth Southgate and the England team are getting.

  2. Yesterday's terrible result against Hungary sums up the lot of a Scotland football supporter.

On the day the team just doesn't deliver the goods. It wouldn't be so bad if the play well when it matters and lose. But to play poorly, which puts their backs against the wall, and fall on the wrong side of the result, that's the disappointing bit.

I thought of you while watching Scotland yesterday, Alan. Well, I didn't watch the whole game live -- I watched Switzerland-Germany instead since they were on at the same time, but I watched & scrolled through it afterwards. Terrible thing with that Hungarian bloke who went down (memories of Christian Eriksen there), but thankfully he's stable now.

Scotland has been fascinating to follow. Wearing their hearts on their sleeve, for sure, but perhaps not being quite there in terms of the necessary skill. Neither has England, for that matter.

  3. England think they have the skill. We hope we have the skill.

Good point. At least you're better than us Norwegians, who haven't been to a championship since the early 2000s. It makes me FURIOUS!

    For Odin!

Sad to see Belgium go, but they haven't impressed that much. Lukaku's three(?) cancelled goals was kinda spectacular, in its own way. Spain won deservedly yesterday, against France (who I normally root for, but they've been terrible). Tonight is The Netherland vs. England, both teams have disappointed and kinda just eased on through the stages. Spain-England would be an interesting final, I think.

  4. England in a final?! Goodness no.
