Just brilliant.
It is still the best score I've heard this decade!

NP: Land of the Lost - Michael Giacchino
This is Michael just letting loose and having a boat load of fun! I can see why composers would pick such projects. BTW, anyone else tie the low brass motif heard in the first track to Jerry Goldsmith's Deep Rising?

It's Goddamn brilliant people! Every single note! It was brilliantly spotted, it enhances the film, it plays brilliantly on CD... it's the best thing I've heard in the past 9 and half years! There aren't too many scores written like this these days. IMHO, it's a modern day Jaws.

Concerning Signs I take it? Yeah, 'best score this decade' is a one helluva statement to make!
My gut just says no to that, even though it is a bloody fantastic score. Rarely do I like to declare a 'best' score, I tend to describe 'favourites'. Signs is definitely a favourite of mine. -

A 'favourite'? Yeah!
I can see what Erik means though, he's obviously considered things very well before making that statement. I'd have to have a really good think before passing my own opinion. On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

This isn't just some decision I made out of the blue. I've heard hundreds and hundreds of scores in the past decade and I've looked back at my Top 10 lists over the years and have played all of those score over and over again back to back just to make sure that what I've declared is correct to me. And when I think about the best of the best in the 2000's Signs is always the first score I think of. It's the true definition of a GREAT film score. My Top 10 of the decade is a pretty impressive list and I think all ten scores on that list are worthy of being declared the best of the last ten years.

Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones John Williams
The percussion in 'The Chase Through Coruscant' puts the percussion in BSG to utter shame. (Don't get me wrong, I love Battlestar Galactica... but this is just an awesome action cue.) -

Technically I think it's really quite good indeed. But I can't say it's one I'm ever in the mood for... which can only mean I'm not its biggest fan. To my ears, it obviously lacks something. Or I'm not hearing it. Either way, I'd rather listen to....
The Perfect Storm James Horner
Now THIS is one of my favourite scores of the 00s. -

Apparent not since it's clouding your judgment of the SWON score.

the film was an awesome surprise, at least for those who thought they have seen it all of JCVD
The score is a pleasant surprise because like the film, you don't expect something like this
