Unforgettable

Christopher Young

" Unforgettable it's sadly ... not "

Written by Thomas Glorieux - Review of the limited release

Unforgettable is one of those scores that Christopher Young has done a couple of times now. It's highly effective, it's enormously long and it has advantages and disadvantages. In a way, it's hard to recommend it, yet if you take it apart, there's not much wrong with it either (perhaps being too long for its own good). In the end, it has a good theme, the necessary chills and thrills, with a couple of doozies along the way. For the fans I guess.

A thriller / horror score has always something to offer, at least we are sure of that with Christopher Young, for instance another subtle but effective main theme ("Without You", "Unforgettable")
Another advantage, the subtle combination between the piano and the soft strings.
A track like "Head Goo" does a lot, like creating suspense through the loud percussion, or creating mystery courtesy of the Species like alienating strings.
I don't tend to talk a lot about covers, but this one is seriously uninviting. YUK!
The long dark eerie cues, as much as they are effective, they are also not the most interesting tracks (tracks like "Feed Your Head", "Twice Dead", "Within You".
In the end the score is just too damn long.
