The Man Who Knew Infinity

Coby Brown

" The listener who knew it was way too long "

Written by Thomas Glorieux - Review of the regular release

This is a tough one. Even though the music's fine, a large chunk of this is pretty forgettable. Basically after the 10th track it descends into soft dramatic music that's pretty much the same. We miss the brief but wonderful rise of track "Departure & Arrival" and "FRS", or the light choir of "Refuge", and a specific theme as hook wouldn't feel out of place too. Despite being lovely, it's not the score I'll return to (except for say a pure background experience), or if you seriously trim it down.

Several tracks "Departure and Arrival" and "Refuge" bring a brief but wonderful rise of orchestral warmth
Light choir enlightens "Refuge" as well, it should have been implemented more than once
Authentic instruments bring something extra (though the tone is always the same)
a theme could go a long way to give the score some meaning
constant soft drama can lose one's focus rather easily
large section of the middle part is rather uninteresting (way up until the 21st track)
