Hush

Christopher Young

" Hush little Christopher don't you ... "

Written by Thomas Glorieux - Review of the regular release

Hush is the kind of score that's very functional, very professional and actually just good. But the long tracks don't invite me back for another spin. Plus it's Christopher Young in his usual self, good with a little bit of extra. Not particularly a theme, a melody or a moment that will stand the test of time, but it's a good old little thriller score that shows the masses of today he could write these in his sleep, without ever forgetting to tie it all together with the melody or the atonal idea. Good score, just to damn long.

Opening with hush little baby melodies.
Surprisingly, it has elements of more eerie fantasy (such as Species).
Occasional vocals do heighten the drama and the urgency of things (track "Don't").
A great action / suspense track is "Buy You", containing the urgency and the excitement that was needed after the countless lullabies.
Long tracks have got development, but here it feels more like ideas glued together. So the long tracks don't invite you immediately for a replay, save for the final one having all the highlights in one concert suite.
